Intel Based Mac
I’m really excited that Apple is switching to Intel chips. I hope this means Windows could run on Mac hardware. My next laptop would probably be a PowerBook then. Think Secret – A first look at Apple’s Intel Mac

GPS Based ToDo App
Read a very cool article on Engadget this morning about Pam Ludford, who is a Ph.D. candidate in computer science at the University of Minnesota. She has developed a location-sensitive to-do list app for GPS-enabled cellphones as her thesis project. The app is called Place Mail and it can send…

Veritas embraces 64-bit Windows/Linux on Opteron
I’m in the news! I did all the testing on x64 architectures over the last 6 months for NetBackup. We’ve had support for this for over a month (The Register is slow for once) but it’s cool to read about us in the news. The thing they fail to mention…

Nothing New
Not a whole lot going on for me right now. I’ve been plugging away at work and playing with my new car. I got my grades from my final semester at college and I have in fact graduated (wipes brow). I don’t think it will really sink in until September…

Post-Graduation & Condo
It’s really disheartening to have finals after walking across the stage in your cap and gown. I have one tonight and another Saturday. I started full-time at Veritas on Monday and have been keeping busy. Also, in a fast series of events, I bought a condo! My parents were up…

Graduation
I can’t believe college is almost over. I’m having family up to visit on Friday afternoon/evening for commencement. If anyone is interested in sitting through a long ceremony it starts at 7pm in Northrop. After that though you should come over to our apartment! Food/drinks are on me.

Stupid MSN TV
I tried remote recording the new episode of “That 70’s Show” and it couldn’t connect. So alas I am off to night class without a TV show to watch when I get home.

I embrace what I’ve become… The network section describing all my geeky toys is now up. I also have registered iJFP.com as my permanent spot on the internet. You probably know that if you’re reading this though…

Working 3 Jobs
The past week has been a blur. I ended up working all weekend since we’re pushing out the first beta of NetBackup 6.0 on Friday of this week. It has a lot of cool new features which I don’t think I’m allowed to comment on yet. I was testing a…

Paperless Kitchen
I ran across this cooking recipe app called BigOven when I saw a Windows XP commercial. It’s funny that Microsoft is still promoting a 4-year-old OS as if it’s brand new. I think they are just trying to compete with Apple’s OS X Tiger release which is the 4th OS…

Build My Gallows High
We’re having the band “Build my Gallows High” (great name) in to play a live set on our show from 4-6pm. Check it out online at radiok.org or if you’re in the cities 106.5 FM. Chris and I would love it if you pick up some watts to support our…

Upgraded Media Center
I finally picked up a TV tuner card for my Windows Media Center – a Haupaugge TV150. I’m really amazed at how well it works and for the first time I can honestly say that it feels like I own a Tivo. While I was at it, I dug around…

Hello, Real World
On Monday I took a full-time position with Veritas. I start next Monday (the 18th). I’m really excited to finally have a job and it’s even before I graduate. They pushed my hire through so that I don’t get lost in the paperwork shuffle of the Veritas-Symantec merger which will…

More Layout Updates
I didn’t get the music section done like I wanted to this weekend. Dreamweaver chokes when you work on 8,000 row tables apparently. I did however makes updates to the bookmarks tab (they have pretty graphic logos now). Unfortunately the speed is still terrible since it relies on an external…

Dell x30 PDA
I decided it was time to upgrade my PDA after 4 good years of college use. I know a lot of people say the PDA is dead with smart phones, tablet PC’s, and all the other mobile gadgets out there. I never understood them. I have a cell phone that…
