I’ve missed you Jack

There was a commercial for Season 5 this week during the OC. I almost forgot my love for 24 during the off season. The commercial consisted of Jack getting a phone call in Mexico as the narrator explains he is the most wanted man in America. At the end of last season he was forced to leave the country for being a bad-ass basically. He looks up at the camera and says “how did you get this number?”. Then what really floored me was the announcement of another 4-hour premier on January 15/16th (two hours each night). I’m announcing a 24-party at my place for anyone who is addicted watches this show. Here’s the blurb from Fox’s press release:

Season five picks up 18 months after the exciting conclusion of season four, as national security is brutally breached. A presumed dead Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland) is actually living a new life with Diane (Connie Britton) and her son Derek (Brady Corbet). A shaky President Logan (Gregory Itzin) is running the nation, while composed Bill Buchanan (Morrison) commands CTU alongside key operatives Curtis Manning (Roger Cross), Edgar Stiles (Louis Lombardi) and Chloe O’Brian (Mary Lynn Rajskub). Also featured in season five will be Emmy Award-winning actress Jean Smart as First Lady Martha Logan. In addition, Tony Almeida (Carlos Bernard) and Audrey Raines (Kim Raver) return, while Lynn McGill (Sean Astin) joins CTU.

Mitsubishi WD-52725

After months of waiting and researching I picked up the Mitsubishi WD-52725 on Sunday at Mangolia (aka Best Buy). I just happened to be out in Maple Grove where they had just put in a Magnolia. They don’t carry this particular model in normal Best Buy’s and they had 2 left since it was on clearance to be replaced by the 1080p model. I can’t wait to finally have a big TV again.

Upgraded Media Center

I finally picked up a compatible TV tuner card for my Windows Media Center, a Haupaugge TV150 to be exact. I’m really amazed at how well it works, I can honestly say that it feels like I own a Tivo. While I was at it, I dug around The Green Button and ran across a program called Music Bridge. It basically takes iTunes information and puts it into Windows Media Player or vice versa. So with the help of Music Bridge, 3ivx AAC decoder for Windows Media Player, and some custom scripts my media center now stays completely in sync with the iTunes library on my laptop. I recently disconnected my my desktop iTunes library from syncing with my laptop since I use it to download podcasts and sync my iPod. Since all the music is stored on my desktop, it’s much quicker than going to the iPod through my laptop like before. I just carry my iPod shuffle around now in case I download or rip something while I’m away with my laptop and want to listen. The disadvantage is that when I rip something new I have to add it to two locations instead of just one. Anyways, the Media Center is amazingly useful now since it functions as a Tivo and music player for my entire music library.
