Why?

-20 TempThis is ridiculous, it hasn’t gotten above 0 this week and I think today is officially the coldest day I have ever experienced.  I really lucked out at least this week with getting indoor parking at work so I have not been outside at all today (and wouldn’t have gone outside this whole week if it wasn’t for class and radio k).  It’s making my desire to move to San Francisco all that much worse and finding the old route 66 way out through the southwest should make it even better after a week like this.

My Place is up for Sale

I’ve decided to put my place up for sale after getting it appraised a few weeks ago. If you or anyone you know is interested let me know.  It’s sad to see it go since it’s been a dream place to have but I’m moving on to San Francisco at the end of January.  Check it out here (it will also be up on Craigslist, in the paper and a few other places).

Description
This 860 square foot unit was bought 3-years ago when the building was being renovated from apartments to condos. RiverWest is an all condo building with 75% of owners occupying their units making it a nice friendly community where you can get to know you’re neighbors. The entire building was renovated 3-years ago and the lobby now has a fountain, gourmet kitchen and living room equipped with a Plasma TV that can be used for hosting your large gatherings. Additionally a 2nd social room on the 1st floor was added with a pool table and plasma TV as well. The fitness center has a full weight room, ellipticals and tread mills with personal LCD TV’s on each of the aerobic units. Outside on the 1st floor is a pool with a skyline view of the city as well as a gas fire place and grills for hosting barbecues. Just inside by the pool you would have access to a sauna and jacuzzi along with locker rooms. The actual unit overlooks the Mississippi river with a view of both the 3rd avenue bridge and Stone Arch bridge. To see a picture of the view from the balcony check out the panoramic photo which was shot from standing on the units balcony. The unit was planned and decorated by Dwelling Designs, a local interior design firm that decorated the common areas as well. The space has dark hard wood floors in the kitchen and living room with carpet in the bedroom. Large breakfast island in the center of the kitchen, slate tile in the bathroom, black granite counter tops throughout, stainless steel GE appliances, and a in-unit washer and dryer.

Labor Day Weekend

Labor DayI needed an excuse to blog since nothing very write-worthy has been going on in my life right now so I’ll talk about a fun weekend I just had. Work has been a little less hectic lately with our new release out the door so Friday when I realized I had stayed late a couple of nights already I decided to duck out a little early with Jim to go play golf. Jim had some family friend who work at a course that got us 9 holes for free. I was playing particularly well (and consistent which is even more rare) so after 9 we decided to play the course again and make 18 out of it. It was an absolutely beautiful day outside, mid 70′s, light breeze and a long weekend ahead to look forward to. It was a perfect way to spend a late Friday afternoon.

The Rest of the Weekend
I just finished up a class at Augsburg so this was the first Saturday in a long time I didn’t have to study and get stuff done at home. I slept in nice and late and then bummed around to get some errands and grocery shopping done. It wasn’t until I was at the Quary (the Target and grocery store by campus is called the Quary) that I realized it was move in weekend for school. There was an ape-ton of people out but it made me glad to be out of undergrad and not dealing with moving every year and all that fun stuff. Continue reading

24 Hours Through Flickr

BreakfastI joined the 24 Hours of Flickr group a few weeks back and this Saturday I took pictures of what I did through out the day along with a bunch of other people. It was fun to do and I thought I’d post the pictures here with the story behind each of them. If you’re not the reading type you can skip right to the pictures which are located here. So the first picture (to the left) was the first I took. I got up around 10:30am after working much to late on Friday night. I finished off the box of Fruity Pebbles I had been working on all week along with some orange juice in the Manchester United glass that Katie gave me from England. I ate at my desk as usual, catching up on email and looking at the Flickr map from people in Europe and Japan that had already finished their day. I must admit that Fruity Pebbles may now be my favorite cereal, beating out Cinnamon Toast Crunch from the dining service during college. Something about Cinnamon Toast Crunch and all that sugar got to me after a couple of years so Fruity Pebbles is a nice balance between way too much sugar and the lame adult cereal that my mom tells me I should eat. I feel like I’m a little kid every time I buy a bunch of kids cereals at the grocery store but I love my Fruity Pebbles.

Construction Worker Falls from Carlyle

Construction worker dies after fall at site of highrise condo

This is the building that is going up right next to me. I saw a bunch of police cars out this morning at 8am when I was heading to work. It actually crossed my mind that someone might have fallen but I can’t believe it happened. The building isn’t all that tall yet, they’ve only completed 4 or 5 stories, but I guess it’s tall enough to be a dangerous fall.

RiverWest Closing

I am now in debt for many years but this is what I have to show for it. I’ll be doing some painting and bathroom work so I’ll post more pictures when it’s done.
