I needed an excuse to blog since nothing very write-worthy has been going on in my life right now so I’ll talk about a fun weekend I just had. Work has been a little less hectic lately with our new release out the door so Friday when I realized I had stayed late a couple of nights already I decided to duck out a little early with Jim to go play golf. Jim had some family friend who work at a course that got us 9 holes for free. I was playing particularly well (and consistent which is even more rare) so after 9 we decided to play the course again and make 18 out of it. It was an absolutely beautiful day outside, mid 70′s, light breeze and a long weekend ahead to look forward to. It was a perfect way to spend a late Friday afternoon.
The Rest of the Weekend
I just finished up a class at Augsburg so this was the first Saturday in a long time I didn’t have to study and get stuff done at home. I slept in nice and late and then bummed around to get some errands and grocery shopping done. It wasn’t until I was at the Quary (the Target and grocery store by campus is called the Quary) that I realized it was move in weekend for school. There was an ape-ton of people out but it made me glad to be out of undergrad and not dealing with moving every year and all that fun stuff. It also means more people my age will be around the city – I realized this summer, at least by where I live, that I’m on the young side of people around the Mill district. Saturday night was spent out at Bootleggers which is the bar of choice for the crowd I met through Jim. The bar had a one year anniversary party for the VIP’s that had hosted large groups there throughout the year (like us) which meant free food and drinks from 7-9pm before they opened up for the regular crowd at 9. It was a good time, I spent very little money and even won at darts (even if it was by default since none of use could hit a bulls-eye to finish the game). I also met up with Chris and the ole’ gang at The Entry for Stereo Total and Octopus Project. I didn’t have extremely high expectations but they blew any of them out of the water – Octopus Project was way more together than the last time I saw them and Stereo Total put on the most entertaining show I’ve seen this year (maybe excluding Lolla). The guy from Stereo Total crowd surfed in a room full of 100 people and they brought up a random fan on stage to sing a song about love in threes. To finish it off they even played 2 encores which I have never seen done at a place like First Ave. The whole crowd seemed to really be enjoying it and the 7th street entry is usually a great place to have a show with a strong crowd since everyone is so packed together. Well that was my weekend, next one should be fun too meeting up with the whole Brookfield crowd for Jennifer’s wedding.
People your age? Did you forget that you’re old, Pfeiffer?
I’m not complaining too much, I like older people. Especially above 50 in Chicago.
“love in threes” otherwise known as THREESOMES. also, quarry. not quary. don’t you have firefox’s built-in spell check? haha it doesn’t recognize “firefox” as a word. irony!
What a teacher!
