Last weekend was about Paal, this weekend was about cars which pretty much is the theme of when I come back to Brookfield now a days. Seems that there are less people around each time I’m back but I did get to hang out with Erin and Paal for a Summerfest/late night Perkin’s evening that was chalk full of nostalgia. I did not build a gigantic pyramid of coffee creamers or order the appetizer sampler but it was still good times. I also got to see both sides of the extended family for some German cooking and meeting lots of relatives I never can remember.
So the main reason I was heading home was to fix a few things on my car. Friday was spent replacing the right rear window innards that had broken about a year ago. Rex had figured out a way to force the window in to staying up but that broke and the window had been slowly rolling down every other day. The only thing that was broke was a little wire but BMW only sells the whole unit with the window moter despite just needing a small piece of metal that broke. So hopefully I can sell some of the working parts that were ripped out on eBay. Either way it’s really nice not to have to push the window up by hand every time I park now. After that I went down to Rex’s dealership to talk to them about painting a few parts of the car. Last summer I removed some chrome molding on the trunk that scrapped up all the clear coat and I also had a run in with the curb on my front bumper. Nothing too bad but now that Rex has that shop it was easy to have them touch it up. Saturday morning we got up early to sand the spots down, cover the car all up and shoot it with a few coats of black paint and clear coat. Rex’s friend Ray did a great job painting with his new spray gun. I’ve never been much good at spray painting so I wouldn’t even want to try it on my car. That wrapped up in the afternoon so I headed back home and did a polish/wax for the rest of the day. It looks really nice, just need to wet sand the areas that have fresh paint and it should be back in top shape once again. Some guys from work last week thought it was a 2003. I love telling people it’s 10 years old with close to 140,000 miles on it. I’ve also been meaning to change the clutch that is showing it’s age and roll the right fender in so it doesn’t rub when the car is full of people. I’m thinking a trip towards the end of August would take care of that if I don’t hook up with Kris and his car pose before that.
Posse. hahahaha
