I still can’t believe it. Here’s what happened:
I came home this morning around 10am. I had a couple bags in my arms and when I went to open the door to the apartment I left my keys hanging in the door. I talked to Brigitte who left our place around 11am and she didn’t notice my keys in the door. I didn’t even notice they were gone until I decided to drive to the lakes with Bri to go running around 2pm. I figured I must have left them somewhere so I dig through the whole apartment and don’t find anything. As a last ditch effort I go down to the underground parking garage to see if I possibly could have left them in my car. My car isn’t there. I did a quick sanity check and knew I had to drive home this morning since I had two laptops in my back seat from work which were now in my apartment and I took them last night without coming home until this morning.
Luckily the manager was in the office and we looked through the video of the garage to find someone driving off with my car at 11:49am. He actually got out of the car when the garage door didn’t open right away (anyone who parks here knows that the door takes awhile to recognize a car in front of it). This makes me almost think that it was someone who didn’t live here (or at least doesn’t have a car here). He was a white male with a white baseball cap.
Our building is pretty safe, you can’t get in unless someone living here lets you in. On top of all of this, our apartment is located on a dead end hallway with only 3 apartments past ours. So to see my keys in the door it would almost have to be someone right by us since we aren’t on the main entrance hallway. I’m more worried about how I will get to work and how I’ll get another car.
And who the hell steals a Toyota Camry anyways? It’s the safest (aka slowest and most boring) car in America.
